Is Obot Akara Local Government Area, Part Of Akwa Ibom State?

“The Big Question”

I was recently made to understand that Obot Akara Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State may not be part of Akwa Ibom State, But the people leaving in that region which is very close to Abia State, did not agree that they are from Abia State either, I suspect that Obot Akara that break out from Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, would have being a State of her own.

Now why the question of where the Local Government Area belongs to? It will interest you the reader to know that the vast development that is taking place in Akwa Ibom State right now does not affect a reasonable portion of Obot Akara, it will also interest you to know that the least thing like the Local Government Council or office is running on her own, the appointees fixed in the offices there, does not enter their offices but run to the office anytime there is an inspection or money to share, the  Chairman leave at Ikot Ekpene and does not visit the office, the Vice in her husband house from where she sign the recent Army recruitment attestation forms for the Obot Akara indigene’s in which none of them was accepted in the exercise, the Secretary is a lecturer in Uniuyo, her primary duty point and she hardly have full concentration for the school, talk less of the Local Government where she was appointed a Secretary, so believe me the council is just there for formality.

The only thing done in the Local Government since the inception of The good Governor Of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Governor Godswill Akpabio is a Computer training center, that just as the E-Library has not being open and God knows if it will ever be open before the politicians share the computer between themselves, you may want to ask why is the good Governor Of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Governor Godswill Akpabio, is not working in the LGA. the number one answer maybe that the Governor cannot go around all the Local Government to installed or executed projects, which is the reason while he have to work with Chairman’s and Councilor’s and the second reason as I’m told is that some top selfish politicians from the Local Government Area refuse to Vote the Governor into office, but I wonder why this would have been a problem, when I know that a large portion of Uyo and their top politicians did not Vote the Governor either but he start his good works there, there must be more to it if you agree with me.

I believe that the Governor has try very little, but some born criminals in the Local Government would not allow anything work, because there is only one major road that cut across Obot Akara from Aba Road to Umuahia Road with two bridge to help the villagers move from one village to the other where there is  stream, the road was awarded to a contractor who did not complete a quarter of the job, but pour stones and tiles from Ikot Ineme to Okop village market, which is just the entrance of the road from Aba Road, meanwhile Roads are commission on daily basis at Essien Udim Local Government Area just across the Aba road, the person that the contract was awarded to, has embezzled the money and forget that God is in heaven, and the State Government did not ask why, nobody cares about it.

What is worst?

The worst is the education system, the entire Local Government Area have only two good government Secondary School, and this two schools has no good teachers in them, the Ubon Akwa Community Secondary School at Ubon Akwa Village, is one of the two secondary school in the Local Government but you can hardly see a teacher teaching in the class room, the recent “WAEC” written by the students from that school was nothing to write home of, the National Youth Corps send there to teach did not teach but was seen busy trying to help more than thousand students that have nowhere to go, but hooked to the unbecoming School, in written their finals examination with all sort of materials, the invigilator a big criminal, a good term to described her, she collect money from every student or else she will not give you the answer sheet and she reduce the answer sheet to about a hundred or two hundred and leave many of the poor children crying their life out, what a deplorable situation. God help Obot Akara, now no school is functioning, no good road, and the worst, Obot Akara has become a hide out for Criminals.

What sacrifice will it take for the State Government to do something about the Local Government, because I strongly believe that people will be held responsible either by God or by Men for all the damage that their action brought to the poor people of Obot Akara, let’s not forget in a hurry that the cow that has no tail depends on God to deal with flies for it.
